Lobelia is a pioneering company in the use of Earth Observation satellites to address the climate emergency. We develop and operate services to study the state of the Earth’s resources, and provide key data for adaptation and mitigation measures in face of the climate crisis.
Lobelia’s team is composed of passionate experts in physics, earth sciences, graphic design, computer science, data visualisation, engineering and business. We apply this interdisciplinary knowledge to actual products people use and want to use. We work with trusted data providers and have a growing network of international collaborators that are as engaged as we are to drive for change.
Lobelia is looking for a Climate impact consultant to strengthen its scientific team.
1. Why you should work at Lobelia
Interesting science can be explained in klingon or mandalorian. Or we can work hard to translate it to as broad an audience as possible. Our communication team does precisely that: converting our insights and those of our partners into stories for space agencies, news outlets and social media.
From marine heatwaves to human migrations triggered by thermal stress, state-of-the-art scientific results are transformed into appealing stories, and those stories are presented through scrollytelling, digital globes, immersive resources and engaging journalism.
Come and tell the stories that matter to the people that want to act.
2. What you will do
We are looking for a Climate Impact Consultant to act as a vital bridge between our technical teams and our clients. Your main role will be to interpret complex climate and impact data, and communicate it in a way that aligns with client needs—supporting decision-making, reporting, and strategy development.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in client-facing environments and is comfortable presenting technical information in a clear, compelling, and actionable format. You should be able to connect the dots between scientific models and stakeholder priorities, and provide consultancy that adds real value.
Key Responsibilities:
3. What you will bring
Must-haves include:
- A Master’s or PhD in engineering (civil, environmental), earth science (especially hydrology), energy, geography, economics, or a related field.
- Experience in consulting, especially with clients in finance, insurance, infrastructure, engineering firms or environmental strategy.
- Demonstrated experience with physical climate risk assessments, impact modelling, or adaptation planning, particularly in sectors such as water, infrastructure, or natural ecosystems.
- Solid skills in data analysis and modelling (preferably using Python), with a good understanding of statistics and geospatial analysis tools.
- Experience communicating technical or scientific content to non-expert audiences through reports, slides, or presentations.
- Excellent spoken and written English; proficiency in French is a plus.
- A client-focused mindset, with strong interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills, and the ability to collaborate across interdisciplinary teams.
Nice-to-haves include:
- Familiarity with ESG, TCFD, TNFD, or EU Taxonomy frameworks.
- Previous involvement in adaptation planning or climate risk disclosure work.
- Hands-on experience working with environmental or socio-economic simulation models (e.g., hydrological models, asset-level impact modelling).
